air:  AMS - Amsterdam Schiphol - 18 km (11 miles) southwest of the city centre - [map]
  • Rail connection inside the terminal - inexpensive 20 minute service every 15 minutes to Centraal Station
  • KLM bus connects the airport with 15 or so city hotels every half hour. More expensive than train.
  • Taxis take as long (20-45 minutes, depending) and cost way more.

Parking is either non-existent, expensive (and often insecure), or if free, a long ways off…. One-way systems and narrow canal side streets mean you're better off on foot, cycle or public transport.
