Steve Hillage 'L' Virgin CDVR2066 || 15.01.2007 (1976) || £10.64 $ € ¥ + p+p +tax Click for big pic "Dedicated to all optimistic visions of the future."...Steve's second album remastered plus 3 bonus tracks Wonderful covers of Donovan's 'Hurdy Gurdy Man' and George Harrison's 'It's All To Much' and Steve 'n' Miquette's luminous and mighty 'Lunar Musick Suite' are among my favorites on this, the most commercially successful of his albums, but then there's also 'Hurdy Gurdy Glissando' & 'Om Nama Shivaya' - oh it's all great stuff. Recorded in Woodstock at Todd Rundgren's studio and using the excellent tried & true Utopia band, and with the late great trumpeter Don Cherry making a telling contribution amongst the other musicians. The three bonus tracks are 'Shimmer', which was the B side of the 1976 'It's All Too Much' 7" single (how does it sound? - the clue is in the title), and two previously un-released tracks recorded during the 'L' sessions in Woodstock, a cover version of another of Steve's favs, the Byrds 'Eight Miles High', and 'Maui', which is an early version of 'Palm Trees', the final version of which was released on Steve's album 'Green'. With a 16 page illustrated booklet with liner notes by Mark Powell with loads of input from Steve himself. Track Listing: Total Runtime 57.06
