Pip Pyle/Philippe-Marcel Iung/John Greaves The Pig Part Voiceprint VP225D || 2001 || £10.64 $ € ¥ + p+p +tax Click for big pic Pip Pyle has always been so much more than Gong's longest serving drummer. He is also an excellent pianist, arranger and composer (check out 7 Year Itch). On this release, which was an on-going recording process on odd weekends stating in '97 going through to '99, he is teamed up with old mate John Greaves and Philippe-Marcel Iung. Predominently real recordings are creatively blended with sounds generated by Yamaha QY sound modules and midi sequencers. It results in a intriguing avant/jazz album (although there are a couple of great 'songs' as well) full of musical richness and quirkiness. The combination of lots of squeeky-bonk with backbone and direction and more melodic ideas in one album than most bands have in a whole career make it all great stimulating fun. Track Listing: Total Runtime 44.25
