Micro Cosmic + daevid allen Sacred Geometry II
No Meat Productions || 11.07.2005 || £10.64 $ € ¥ + p+p +tax Click for big pic The second cosmialien gliss/synth collaboration Many of you are very fond of the first 'Sacred Geometry' CD, and rightly so, but I believe that this second instalment is even better. This release has more of a underlying structure to it. A structure that could be easily utilized in personal relaxation or therapy. It's simple really, you either have time for the slightly new-age stylings of albums such as 'Stroking the Tail of the Bird' parts of '22 Meanings' or the first 'Sacred Geometry', or you don't. If you do, then you will not be disappointed in the slightest with this latest release in that oeuvre. It's very good. Ancient Future Actually the very start of the CD is for me one of the less successful parts of the whole album. It took me a little while to grow used to the Indian sitar and flute sections. However the track quickly grows in strength, which continues throughout, as daevid's gliss guitar comes to the fore. Encodement Any small doubts created by the beginning of the first track, which have been slowly melting away throughout it's duration anyway, are completely dispelled by this most Gong-like of second tracks. The judicious and sensitive use of tiny fragments of Gong samples often make this appear like the very sound that might emanate from Gong Mandala itself. Divine Guidance Led by the natural sounds of the nighttime rain-forest we then enter a deeply magical place. Beautiful inter-playing Harp and Glissando Guitar melodies glide us through this special track. Aliglastafari Oh what a character he was. A seemingly permanent Glastonbury presence until one day, some years ago already, he left, not only Avalon, but the world itself. A devotee who had journeyed out there and yet came back still sane. Always full of often child-like positivity and smiles. This Santor, gliss and synth piece is dedicated to him. Merkaba MER - Counter Rotating Fields of Light, KA - Spirit, BA - Body. Enter Gilli and another of the standout tracks. This reminds me strongly of both Gilli's 'Magenta' and 'Stroking the Tail of the Bird' as she leads us simultaneously inwards/outwards with what is really a guided meditation in words and sound. Have a Google if you want to know more of the nature Merkabas. Words Sojourner A perfect continuation of mood after the 'meditation' of the previous track as daevid's gentle glissando guitar murmurings and meanderings do what only they can do, all within a complementary micro synth-scape setting. Bahair Bhairavi The circle is completed with the reintroduction of the sitar and flute adding the Indian feel and sound once more, totally sucessfully this time, to the gliss and synth on the last track At the end it feels as if a journey has been completed, and if you really happen to have left your body during the trip, after a long period of silence, there's a gentle wake-up call to return to the world - perhaps to put the kettle on. Track Listing: 55.37 (71.37)
