Each page has links to plain text and .pdf versions - if you download a text file for editing, make sure you put the whole thing into a monospace font (such as Courier), or it won't make sense - the .pdf preserves spacing (so prints well), but can't be edited easily. So it goes.

How to to Layout, Format and Submit Guitar Tabs

Submit

as e-mail attachments to - (same for updates, error corrections or nocturnal omissions)

Format

Plain text files (.txt)

Use a monotype (fixed width) font (typeface) - examples: Andale Mono, Courier, Courier New, Monaco

List Artist or Group, Album name and Title of composition

Note key and time signature, if known

Tablature only (no fretboard depictions) - good to name chords above tab bar

(Place comments or 'stage directions' in parentheses)

Layout

Single column

66 characters per line (68 maximum), otherwise chop into additional lines

Start lyric lines with spaces (2 minimum, 4 better)

Use spaces - not tabs - to line lyrics up vertically with notes

If more than one note per word then apply correct hyphenation if necessary

If only one lyric line per tab bar then no extra spaces between words

If multiple lyric lines on same tab bar then use spaces to align stressed syllables vertically
